Renowned trainer Amy Murphy has announced her decision to move her entire training operation from Newmarket, England, to Chantilly, France, effective February 2025. This strategic relocation aims to capitalise on the evolving French racing scene and its attractive prize-money levels.

Murphy, 32, has been a prominent figure in British horse racing since she began training in 2016. She initially rented Hamilton Stables on Hamilton Road before purchasing Southgate Stables in May 2018. Over the years, she has achieved significant success in both Flat and National Hunt racing. Notably, her horse Kalashnikov secured victory in the Grade 1 Manifesto Novices' Chase at Aintree in April 2019. On the Flat, Pride Of America has been a standout performer, with the 2023 John Smith's Cup among his seven wins for the stable.

In 2022, Murphy established a satellite yard near Chantilly, which provided her with valuable insights into the French racing industry. Reflecting on this experience, she stated,
"France is ever-evolving and has great prize-money levels. That's the main draw as to why we're moving, and whilst we've attacked it on a small level, I now believe that I want to have a good go at making a successful career based in France."

Murphy expressed enthusiasm about the move, highlighting the exceptional facilities in Chantilly and the support from her team and owners. She remarked,
"I'm really lucky that some of my incredible team here at Southgate Stables will be joining me in Chantilly. Lots of our owners are following us, and we're looking forward to, hopefully, showing them a new side to racing. It's exciting for everybody, and the facilities are second to none. There's everything you could ever dream to have as a trainer on our doorstep in Chantilly."

Looking ahead, Murphy emphasised her ambition to compete at the highest levels of the sport. She concluded,
"I'm a hugely competitive person, and I want to be training at the top level. The prize-money in France makes it a much more viable option to do that."

With the move set for early 2025, Murphy is poised to make a lasting impact on the French racing scene, bringing her expertise and ambition to a new frontier.
