Grand Slam of Eventing Series Suspended for 2025

The prestigious Grand Slam of Eventing, a coveted title in the world of equestrian sport, will not be contested in 2025. Organisers of the three Grand Slam events—the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event, MARS Badminton Horse Trials, and Defender Burghley Horse Trials—alongside US Equestrian, announced the decision as they continue to explore alternative formats for the series.
At its core, the Grand Slam of Eventing rewards an exceptional feat in the sport: winning all three of these top-level five-star competitions consecutively. Since its inception in 1999, only two riders—Pippa Funnell (2003) and Michael Jung (2016)—have achieved the elusive Grand Slam, cementing its reputation as one of the toughest challenges in equestrian sports.
While discussions with potential sponsors are ongoing, no new sponsor has been secured at this time. Organisers remain committed to evaluating new possibilities for the series, which has long been a pinnacle of achievement in the eventing world. For now, while the 2025 season will continue to feature these historic events individually, the Grand Slam title itself will not be on the line.
As the sport continues to evolve, fans and competitors alike will be watching closely to see what the future holds for the Grand Slam of Eventing.
