Racing Home Launches Free Post-Pregnancy Rehabilitation & Support Programme for Equestrian Mothers

The journey of motherhood is a transformative experience, and for equestrian athletes, returning to the saddle after childbirth presents unique physical and emotional challenges. Recognising the need for specialised support, Racing Home has launched a FREE Post-Pregnancy Rehabilitation & Support Programme—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering mothers in the racing and wider equestrian industry to regain their strength and confidence post-childbirth.

A Vital Step Forward for Equestrian Mothers

Launched on 19 November 2024, this initiative marks a significant step in bridging the gap between pregnancy recovery and a return to professional riding. Many female riders face immense physical strain and a lack of structured rehabilitation support, making this programme a crucial lifeline for those determined to continue their careers while balancing the demands of motherhood.

The programme provides expert-led rehabilitation support through a carefully designed framework that prioritises both physical recovery and mental well-being. By working with specialist rehabilitation physiotherapists, participating mothers receive six free personalised sessions, equipping them with the knowledge and strength to safely return to riding.

What the Programme Offers

Participants enrolled in the programme will benefit from:

  • Dedicated Physiotherapy Support – Access to specialist rehabilitation physiotherapists across various locations, ensuring tailored, one-on-one care.
  • Custom Fitness and Strength Training – Expertly crafted fitness plans designed to aid post-pregnancy recovery and build essential strength for riding.
  • Gym Work Guidance – Structured gym sessions that focus on core stability, flexibility, and overall physical conditioning to prepare the body for the demands of riding.
  • Mental Well-being Resources – Understanding the emotional challenges of returning to competition or professional work, the programme integrates mental health support to boost confidence and resilience.

The Vision Behind the Initiative

This programme was made possible through the collaborative efforts of industry professionals who recognise the importance of post-pregnancy support for female riders. Among them, Dominique Tortice and Dr. Anna-Louise Mackinnon have been instrumental in shaping this initiative, discussing its significance in Episode 8 of the Racing Home podcast series.

The equestrian industry has long been male-dominated, with limited considerations for the unique challenges female riders face after giving birth. The Racing Home initiative is a progressive step towards inclusivity, ensuring that motherhood does not become a barrier to professional success in the sport.

A Call to Action: Join the Programme and Spread the Word

Racing Home is calling on all eligible equestrian mothers to take advantage of this completely free programme. It is designed to ensure that women in the industry receive the care they deserve, helping them regain their fitness, confidence, and competitive edge.

We also urge industry professionals, employers, and trainers to support and promote this initiative. Raising awareness about post-pregnancy rehabilitation is essential for fostering a more inclusive and sustainable future for women in equestrian sports.
