Twenty-One Years of Community, Compassion, and Purpose: Butterfly Farm’s 2024 Christmas Charity Show

For 21 years, Butterfly Farm Equestrian has opened its gates, gathered its community, and delivered one of the longest-running and most impactful charity shows in the Irish equestrian calendar. What began as a local effort has grown into a trusted annual tradition, raising thousands of euro for charities across Ireland and bringing riders, families, volunteers, and supporters together for a purpose that stretches far beyond the arena.

This year’s Christmas Charity Show will take place on Sunday, 14 December, once again hosted and run by the Butterfly Farm team, who give their time, effort, and energy freely to ensure every cent raised reaches the chosen charity. Their commitment over two decades is the backbone of this event’s success.

For 2024, Butterfly Farm has chosen to support Merchants Quay Ireland (MQI) — a vital organisation working with people who are homeless, hungry, or living with addiction. MQI has issued an urgent winter request for essential supplies, and the funds raised at the show will go directly toward helping meet that need. As always, 100% of all money raised goes straight to the charity. Nothing is held back. Every hour worked, every fence built, every volunteer contribution is given freely to maximise impact.

The show’s success has always come from its people — those who return year after year, who donate raffle prizes, who volunteer time, who ride to support a cause, and who keep this tradition alive. Their generosity is what has allowed Butterfly Farm to turn a simple idea into two decades of meaningful change.

This year includes a special contribution to the fundraising effort:
Show Jumping Wicklow has donated a full show jump for the raffle, offering a standout prize while helping raise essential funds for MQI’s winter work. It is an incredible gesture and a reminder of how strongly the Irish equestrian community rallies behind causes that matter.

As always, donations are welcomed — whether in cash, raffle items, or auction contributions. Every bit of support helps MQI provide food, shelter, and essential services at a time of year when demand is at its highest.

Butterfly Farm’s Christmas Charity Show is more than a date on the calendar. It is a 21-year demonstration of what happens when a community stands together with purpose. Equitas is honoured to help amplify their work and celebrate the impact they continue to make.
